Dead Shot Bang

A LOVE LETTER TO FILM NOIR

As a teenager I became obsessed with the American Films Noir played by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation late at night, when the good people were asleep. I loved sneaking out of bed under the cover of darkness to watch humanity struggle in the gloomy light of wet urban alleyways. Those stories never ended well and were almost invariably resolved with the most basic of technologies: a gun. Dead Shot Bang is a Noir Poem I filmed inspired by that very dark (in a good way) period in Cinema. Words by Naeim Khavari,

DEAD SHOT BANG - SHORT FILM [4:17]

Watch the film.

LOW GRAVITY TEST [0:45]

For Dead Shot Bang, I wanted to create a natural weightlessness effect. To me, this meant not using any green screen technology or wires.

I filmed actor/stuntman Craig Henry one cold morning and used Twixter to slow down the footage.

The weightlessness effect seemed conclusive and we decided to go ahead with the short film.
