Roborace is a platform focusing on competition between AI drivers at high speed. Its vehicles are based on full size race cars modified into four wheeled robots. These robots are called Devbot 2.0s and are the same across all teams. Their AI drivers make the difference between an overtake and a crash, ultimately a victory and a loss.

Los Angeles agency Race Service set out to create a futuristic spot for McLaren combining dynamic live action footage with real-time visual effects. I was brought in by Executive Creative Director Rod Chong as post-director and editor. My job was to bring together the dynamic live action footage shot by Yaer and Ruben Fro’s striking particle effects. Because the Elva creates a virtual windshield using air flow, I thought it would be appropriate to have the camera perpetually moving as if propelled by the wind.
